A petition has been filed to rezone the property at 8515 Sardis Road from single-family to MF8 (CD). The plan is to put 12 townhouses on the property. This web page is created to keep everyone updated, as things are progressing quickly.
This rezoning could set a precedent for other projects. Sardis is a lovely road with Churches, schools, and detached homes. This project, if approved, could change the look and feel of the Sardis corridor forever!
The presented plan is inconsistent with Charlotte’s long-range planning (R3) and with the corridor as a whole. There is no good reason to rezone this lot from R3 (3 residences per acre) to any greater density.
Please sign the petition! Please get this information to your neighbors and have them sign it also. We need to get as many signatures as possible, in order to demonstrate our united opposition. Here is the link to online petition OPPOSING the rezoning:
Directions:
Go North on Sardis Rd. and take a right onto Randolph Rd. Go 5.4 miles on Randolph Rd. which becomes E. 4th St. The Government Center is located at 600 E. 4th St. and will be on your left. Dottie Hargett has volunteered to coordinate carpooling for the meeting. Please email Dottie if you need a ride or if you can provide a ride to someone else. Dottie’s email is dottiehargett@realtyagent.com
The District 6 City Councilman is Tariq Bokhari. Please try to reach out to him, either by email or by phone. He needs to know that people (voters) in his district are very much against the rezoning change.
His contact information is: Tariq.bokhari@charlottenc.gov (704) 336-3431
